Soar was initially inspired by Aer: Memories of Old, but really came into existence because of the spare time I accrued during the pandemic. It became an escape for me during a time where I truly felt the walls closing in, and I've done my best to honor that vision even long past the worst of the lockdown.
I've been working on Soar since 2019, at first as a solo developer. As the project has expanded, I've brought more people on board, and currently lead a team of 10 though I remain the only software developer and primary game designer. Right now, there are about 2 hours of content, and I plan on expanding that to about 15 hours.
Soar has won Best in Play at GDC, and has been invited to the Indie Showcase at Devcom.
